Ecommerce Website Cost in Bangladesh 2026: First-Year Totals

Ask three people what an online shop costs and you will get three numbers. A freelancer says Tk 15,000. An agency sends a package at Tk 85,000. A friend says WooCommerce is free. None of them is lying. They are pricing different things, and most of them only price the first week.

This guide adds up the first year, not just the build quote. Every figure is either from the seller's own page (with the date we read it) or marked verify. Agency prices are what agencies publish about themselves, not an industry survey.

• Agency or freelancer build: published packages start around Tk 15,000 to Tk 35,000 for a basic shop and run past Tk 1,20,000 for custom work, plus hosting, domain and maintenance every year.
• WooCommerce you run yourself: the software is free; you pay for hosting, a domain, paid plugins and your own (or someone's) time.
• A monthly store builder: no build fee; you pay a monthly plan. On StoreOS that is Tk 0 on Free, Tk 499/month on Silver or Tk 1,190/month on Pro.
• On every route, couriers charge delivery and COD fees per parcel. That cost does not go away when you pick a cheaper website.

EOMSBD also lists running costs after launch: hosting Tk 3,000 to 20,000 a year, domain Tk 900 to 2,000 a year and maintenance Tk 2,000 to 5,000 a month. It says hosting is not included in its packages. These are one agency's published ranges; your quote will differ.

Read the quote for these lines. If they are missing, ask:

1. Hosting and SSL. Who pays, who renews, and what happens when it expires.
2. Maintenance. Plugin, theme and security updates are ongoing work. Ask for a monthly price in writing.
3. Courier integration. "Pathao can be added" is not the same as booking a parcel from the order screen.
4. Payment gateway setup. bKash or SSLCommerz need your own merchant account and their fees, separate from the developer's fee.
5. Ownership. Make sure the domain, hosting login and admin account are in your name.

WooCommerce: free software, paid everything elseCopy Anchor Link

WooCommerce is a real, flexible store, and many Bangladesh agencies build on it. The plugin is free. The bills are hosting, a domain, any premium theme or plugin, and the time spent on updates. Local courier and payment options usually arrive as separate plugins, so each one is another thing to keep working after updates.

Shopify: priced in dollarsCopy Anchor Link

Shopify's Basic plan is US$39 a month billed monthly, or US$29 a month billed yearly (shopify.com/pricing, read 6 Oct 2026). Its pricing page also lists a 2% third-party transaction fee on Basic when you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments. Shopify says Shopify Payments is only available in certain countries, so check whether it works for a Bangladesh business before you budget (verify). A hosted builder replaces the build fee with a monthly plan. Hosting, SSL and updates are the platform's job. What you compare between builders is the plan price, product limits, whether COD and couriers are on the plan you can afford, and whether there is a setup fee.

BTCL, the .bd registry, lists a three-letter-plus .com.bd name at Tk 700 a year to register and Tk 1,020 a year to renew, VAT excluded, shown as a limited-time 36% discount. A name like yourshop.bd is Tk 1,280 to register and Tk 1,600 to renew (domain.btcl.gov.bd/rate, read 6 Oct 2026). A .com from a private registrar is priced by that registrar (verify with yours). On StoreOS, the free address is yourshop.storeos.shop; a custom domain needs Silver or Pro.

These are paid per parcel on every website route. From the couriers' own pages (read 3 Oct 2026, see our Pathao vs Steadfast vs RedX guide): Steadfast states a 1% COD charge. Pathao's page lists 1%, with an FAQ line saying 0.5% inside Dhaka metro (verify in your merchant panel). Pathao lists Tk 60 to 70 for a same-city parcel up to 1 kg. On a Tk 2,000 COD order, 1% is Tk 20 before the delivery charge.

The agency row can be higher or lower depending on the package. The point is the shape: a build is a large payment up front followed by yearly bills, and a builder is a smaller monthly bill with no rebuild when the catalog grows.
