Courier Fraud Checker BD: Check Courier History Before COD
Courier fraud checker guide for Bangladesh sellers: check a buyer's Pathao or Steadfast history by phone, read the ratio right and decide before you ship COD.
A new order comes in at 11pm. Tk 1,850, cash on delivery, outside Dhaka. The name looks fine. The address is half a line. Do you pack it in the morning or call first?
Most Bangladesh sellers now answer that question with a courier history check: type the customer's phone number into a lookup and see how many parcels that number has received and how many it sent back. This guide shows where to run that check, how to read the result without fooling yourself, and what to do with each answer.
One note before we start: StoreOS does not have a built-in courier fraud checker. The checks below happen in your courier's merchant panel or a third-party tool. We will show where StoreOS fits around them.
What a courier history check actually shows
A courier only knows about parcels it carried. When you look up a number, you get that courier's record for it, usually:
- Total parcels sent to that number
- Delivered (the customer took the parcel and paid)
- Cancelled or returned (refused, unreachable, sent back)
- Sometimes fraud reports that other merchants filed against the number
Some tools turn this into a single success ratio: delivered divided by finished parcels. That number is useful, but it is not a verdict. It is a history of one phone number with one or more couriers.
Where to run the check
1. Your courier's own merchant panel (start here)
Both of the couriers StoreOS books with offer a check inside their merchant dashboard:
- Pathao: Pathao describes a "Merchant Panel Fraud Check" where you enter the customer's phone number to see previous delivery history across Pathao's network, including deliveries, cancellations and returns. Pathao says there is no separate software or extra subscription (Pathao blog, 11 Aug 2026, read 8 Oct 2026).
- Steadfast: Steadfast's homepage lists "Fraud check before you ship: type the number and see how many parcels that buyer took, and returned", and its merchant sign-in page names the fraud check as part of the dashboard (steadfast.com.bd, read 8 Oct 2026).
The courier's own panel is the safest place to look: the data comes from the company that carried the parcels, and you do not hand your login to anyone else. The limit is that each panel shows only that courier's history.
2. Multi-courier lookup tools
A group of free and paid sites combine several couriers into one search. Examples on the first page of Google for "courier fraud checker" include FraudPeek, FraudChecker BD, Fraud.bd, Storely's checker and Vendzoo's checker. Their pages say they cover different mixes of Pathao, Steadfast, RedX, Paperfly, CarryBee and others, and most limit free searches per day.
They save time when a customer may have ordered through couriers you do not use. Before you rely on one, check three things:
- Where the data comes from. Some say they use courier APIs. Some open-source tools work by logging into a merchant panel with a merchant's email and password. Do not give your courier panel password to a site you do not control.
- What it does with numbers you search. Your customers' phone numbers are their data, not just yours. Read the tool's privacy page.
- Whether the score is explained. A "risk score" with no counts behind it is harder to trust than plain delivered and returned numbers.
We are not endorsing any of these tools, and we have not tested their accuracy.
How to read the result without fooling yourself
The number on the screen is only half the answer. These are the mistakes that cost sellers good customers or let bad orders through.
Look at volume before the percentage
A number with 1 parcel and 1 return shows a 0% ratio. A number with 40 parcels and 10 returns shows 75%. The first might be one bad week. The second is a long, mostly reliable history. Always read total parcels next to the ratio.
"No history" is not the same as "safe"
A brand-new number, or one that has never used that courier, has nothing to show. Pathao's own post lists new, temporary or borrowed numbers with little delivery history as a fraud pattern. Treat "no record" as unknown, not clean, and check another courier or call.
Returns are not always the customer's fault
A parcel can come back because the address was incomplete, the rider could not reach the area, or the seller sent the wrong size. A low ratio is a reason to call, not proof of fraud.
Fraud reports are other merchants' claims
A report means another seller flagged the number. It is worth a closer look, but you are reading someone else's side of a dispute.
Decide with a simple rule you write down
Several checker tools publish their own bands. FraudChecker BD suggests sending COD with confidence above an 80% success rate and taking an advance delivery fee below that. Vendzoo labels 80 to 100% low risk, 50 to 79% call to confirm, and below 50% advance payment. These are the tools' own suggestions, not industry standards.
Write a rule that fits your products and margins, and use it the same way every time. Here is an example to adapt:
| What you see | Example action |
|---|---|
| Many parcels, mostly delivered | Confirm by message and ship COD |
| Mixed history, or few parcels | Call before booking; check the full address |
| Mostly returned across many parcels | Ask for the delivery charge in advance, or decline politely |
| No history at all | Call; for high-value orders, ask for a small advance |
| Fraud reports on the number | Call, read the report if the tool shows it, then decide |
For a higher-value item, tighten the rule. For a Tk 300 item where the return costs you more than the product, you may skip the check for repeat customers you already know.
Put the check into your order routine
The check only helps if it happens before the parcel is booked. A routine that works for a small team:
- Open the new order and copy the phone number.
- Run the check in your courier panel (and a multi-courier tool if you use one).
- Note the result on the order: total, delivered, returned, and what you decided.
- Call or message when your rule says so.
- Book the courier only after the order is confirmed.
- If the parcel still comes back, note it on the order so the next lookup starts with your own record.
Where StoreOS helps (and where it does not)
StoreOS does not run a courier history check for you. What it does cover is the work around that check:
- COD on every plan. The Free plan takes cash-on-delivery orders (pricing, read 8 Oct 2026).
- Customer SMS OTP on Silver and Pro. A one-time code to the buyer's Bangladeshi mobile at checkout means the order came from a phone that someone holds. It does not stop a real buyer who changes their mind. More in phone OTP checkout in Bangladesh.
- Orders and customers in one console, so the number, address and your notes stay together instead of in a chat thread.
- Pathao and Steadfast booking from the order on Silver (Tk 499/month, 7-day trial) and Pro (Tk 1,190/month), using the address and phone the customer typed, so a copy-paste typo does not cause the return. See booking couriers from orders.
- Delivery charges shown at checkout, so the total at the door matches the total on screen. See delivery charges by region.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check a customer's courier history in Bangladesh?
Enter the customer's 11-digit mobile number in your courier's merchant panel. Pathao and Steadfast both describe a fraud check in their dashboards that shows how many parcels the number received and returned. Multi-courier tools combine several couriers in one search.
Is a courier fraud checker free?
The checks inside the Pathao and Steadfast merchant panels are part of the dashboard; Pathao says no extra subscription is needed. Most third-party tools offer a few free searches a day and charge for more.
What success ratio is safe for COD?
There is no official cut-off. Some tools suggest 80% or higher, but read the total parcel count too. Set your own rule by product price and margin.
What should I do if the number has no courier history?
Treat it as unknown, not safe. Call the customer, check the full address, and for higher-value orders consider a small advance.
Does StoreOS have a built-in courier fraud checker?
No. StoreOS offers customer SMS OTP on Silver and Pro, keeps orders and customer details in one console, and books Pathao or Steadfast from the order on paid plans. Run the history check in your courier panel.
Want fewer typo returns and a phone-verified checkout? Start a free StoreOS store and take COD orders today. Move to Silver when you want SMS OTP and Pathao or Steadfast booking from the order.
