Bangladesh buyers check out with a phone number
Guest checkout and SMS OTP match how people already buy. An email-first cart is a US habit. Ghost COD orders start with a fake number.

A first-time buyer in Dhaka does not have a Gmail they want to type into your cart.
They have a mobile. They found you on Facebook. They will pay the courier in cash if the parcel looks right. Asking for an account, a password, and an email is how you lose the order back to the inbox.
Guest checkout with a Bangladeshi number, then a one-time SMS code, is the local default. StoreOS works that way for shoppers and for merchant signup.
Why the fake COD order exists
Someone places a cash-on-delivery parcel to a number that never picks up. You book Pathao. The parcel tours the country and comes back. You still paid a delivery attempt.
A code on the phone does not fix every fraud. It stops the order that never had a real handset.
We do not publish a “ghost order percentage.” Other platforms invent one. Treat those as ads.
What to turn on
- Guest checkout. Do not force an account on the first buy.
- Phone OTP before the order is confirmed.
- COD as the payment method first-time buyers expect.
- Pathao or Steadfast from the same order, on a paid plan.
Keep email for the people who already bought from you and ask for a receipt. Do not make it the front door.
Free vs paid
Signup is also a Bangladeshi mobile and an SMS. You start on Free: website builder, 50 products, 1 staff. Free does not take COD or book a courier. Load the catalog. Take the first real COD order on a paid plan. Prices: homepage.
