Best ecommerce platform in Bangladesh: how to choose
Choosing the best ecommerce platform in Bangladesh? Use this 12-point checklist: COD, couriers, payments, OTP checkout, domain, stock, support, and total cost.

There is no single best ecommerce platform in Bangladesh. There is the best one for how you sell.
A seller who ships 5 parcels a week from a Facebook page needs something different from a developer building a brand site, or a company selling mostly abroad. Any article that names one winner for everybody is selling something.
This is a checklist you can run against any platform, including ours. It will not tell you who to pick. It will tell you what to ask before you pay.
First, decide what kind of seller you are
Answer these before you open a single pricing page.
- Where do your customers come from today: Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Google, marketplaces?
- Do you take cash on delivery? (Most Bangladesh sellers do.)
- Which courier do you book each day?
- Will you pay in taka, or do you have a card that works for dollar subscriptions?
- Do you have a developer, or will you do it yourself?
- How many products do you have now, and in a year?
Write the answers down. They are your filter.
How to choose the best ecommerce platform in Bangladesh: a 12-point checklist
For each point, ask the platform: show me, not tell me.

1. Cash on delivery
Is COD a first-class checkout method, or a workaround? Check whether it is built in, which plan it needs, and whether COD orders flow into the same order list as everything else.
2. Courier booking
Can you book Pathao or Steadfast from the order, or do you copy and paste into another panel? Is it built in or an extra app? Is there an extra cost?
3. Local payments
Does it support the wallets and gateways your customers use: bKash, SSLCommerz, and others you care about? Who handles the merchant account, you or the platform? Is there a sandbox mode so you can test?
4. Checkout that fits Bangladesh
Does a first-time buyer have to create an account and type an email? Guest checkout with a mobile number and SMS code fits how most people buy here. See why phone OTP checkout works.
5. Billing in taka
If billing is in dollars, can your card pay it every month without trouble? What happens if a payment fails and your store goes offline?
6. Free plan or trial, and what it does not include
Free is useful. Just ask what it leaves out. On StoreOS, Free covers the website builder, up to 50 products, and 1 staff, but not COD orders, courier booking, or a custom domain. Ask every platform the same question.
7. Custom domain
Can you use yourbrand.com or yourbrand.com.bd? On which plan? Is SSL included? A domain that belongs to you matters more every month you run ads. See a Facebook bio is not a domain.
8. Inventory and variants
Does it track stock per size and color? Does it refuse an order when stock is gone? Read inventory management for small business for what good looks like.
9. Coupons, reports, and staff
Can you create discount codes? See sales and order reports? Add a staff member without sharing your own password? Ask for each, and check the plan limits.
10. Design freedom
Can you change the theme later without losing products and orders? Can a developer build a custom front end on the same backend if you outgrow templates? We wrote about this in theme or custom storefront.
11. Support in your language and time zone
When checkout breaks at night before a sale, who answers? On WhatsApp? In Bangla? Ask how support works before you need it.
12. Total cost over 12 months
Add up the real number, not the headline price.
- Platform subscription
- Apps or plugins you need for COD and couriers
- Payment gateway charges (from the provider)
- Domain and any email
- Developer or freelancer time
- Theme or design costs
Compare all of it in taka. A cheap plan with three paid add-ons can cost more than an all-in-one plan.
How the common routes compare, without the hype
We are the StoreOS team, so treat this section as one side of the story. We try to stay factual and we have written longer comparisons on each.
Facebook page only. Free and fast. No stock record, no structured orders, and you rent the audience from Meta. Good for testing. Weak for running a business. See moving a Facebook shop to a real store.
Courier-owned shop tools. Convenient if you want one inbox and a delivery product from the same company. The store lives inside their world. Read Pathao Commerce vs your own store.
Shopify. Strong international product. Check how it bills, how couriers are connected, and what extra apps your setup needs. We wrote about it in Shopify in Bangladesh: Pathao and COD.
WooCommerce. You own the files and the server. Great if you have someone to maintain it. See WooCommerce hosting costs in Bangladesh.
A hosted platform built for Bangladesh sellers, like StoreOS. COD, Pathao, Steadfast, bKash and SSLCommerz plugins, phone OTP checkout, custom domain, multi-store, stock, coupons, and reports in one console. Priced in taka. Paid plans start with Silver at Tk 499 a month with a 7-day trial.
None of these is wrong for everyone. Check each against your twelve answers.
How to run a fair trial
Do not judge a platform from its homepage.

- Pick two or three candidates.
- Load the same 10 products into each.
- Place a test COD order on your phone.
- Try to book a courier from the order.
- Try to add a coupon and a delivery charge.
- Count the clicks and the add-ons.
- Ask support one real question. Note how fast and clear the answer is.
An hour of this tells you more than a day of reading reviews.
Red flags
- A promise with no price attached, or "contact us" for everything.
- A "free" plan that cannot take the one kind of order you get.
- Statistics with no source, such as "most sellers grow 3x".
- COD or courier booking described as "coming soon".
- No way to export your products and customers if you leave.
FAQ
What is the best ecommerce platform in Bangladesh for beginners?
The best choice for a beginner is the one you can finish setting up in a day, takes COD, books your courier, and bills in taka. Run the checklist above and pick the one that covers the most points with the least add-ons.
Is a free ecommerce platform enough?
Free is enough to build and test a catalog. Check what it excludes. If it cannot take COD orders, you will need a paid plan before your first real sale.
Should I use Shopify or a local platform?
It depends on where you sell and how you pay. If you sell mainly abroad in dollars, Shopify may fit. If you sell in Bangladesh with COD and local couriers, check how many add-ons that setup needs.
Can I switch platforms later?
Usually yes, but ask about export first. Keep your product list and customer list in a spreadsheet as a backup.
